Pierre Jeanneret PJ-01-01-11 Student Chairs Circa 1959
Pierre Jeanneret PJ-01-01-11 chairs, (also known as the Student Chair) crafted from solid teak and adorned with exquisite Viennese braided canework, dating back to circa 1959. These chairs are distinguished by their signature asymmetrical inverted V double side leg assembly, the legs connected by double stretchers, the design is further enhanced by the slightly curved ergonomic backrest, which is securely attached to the seat via two upright supports, this set was meticulously sourced directly from Chandigarh and come with eight custom made brown cushions with cream piping.
The provenance of these chairs is as remarkable as their design: they originally graced the premises of Panjab University in Chandigarh, specifically within the student accommodations known as the “Hostel for girls” and “Hostel for boys” since 1959. This rich history adds a layer of depth and narrative to the set, making it not just a collection of furniture, but a piece of history brought into the present day to enrich your living space, as with all of our Pierre Jeanneret furniture these chairs come with full certification of authenticity from Jacques Dworczak.
