A magnificent one of a kind George III Japanned Breakfront Library Bookcase circa 1820, the six glazed doors with Moorish style astragal glazed arches above eight small drawers below each with individual scenes of villages, rivers and mountains, the whole raised on a plinth base with outset columns, the whole piece gilded and decorated in Chinoiserie style in red lacquer, comes with four working keys with tassels, approx. 380cm wide x 45cm (deepest point at front) x 186cm high
Provenance: This piece has come directly from the Presidents personal office of one of the major Oxford colleges, aletter of provenance will be provided.
CONDITION REPORT: in excellent original conditionThis item separates into three pieces, the main central breakfront section is approx. 188cm (widest to the cornice area which projects slightly over the main bookcase), the two recessed side sections are 103cm each (also where the cornice projects over the sides of the main glazed bookcase).
