An 18th century Italian walnut and inlaid cassonné coffer / trunk Italy circa 1780, with original hinges to the lift-lid, floral marquetry to the panelled front all raised on ogee bracket feet, wonderful rich patina, a truly beautiful item, perfect for end of bed, entrance hallway or fireside.

Condition report: The cassonné is offered in excellent condition having just been fully French polished by our expert furniture restorer. There are age related marks to the leading edges, top, sides and corners but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chest lid opens and closes smoothly, The chest has original bracket feet, The chest has a wonderful rich flamed patina, this item is extremely well made, solid in joint and ready to use, there are no odours or smells, there is no evidence of past or present woodworm.
