Biography: Walter Gerdau reveals a storied lineage. In 1908, Walter and his father Johannes acquired the esteemed ‘Fábrica de Móveis Navegantes’ in Porto Alegre. Walter, the steward of this enterprise, pioneered the production of bentwood furniture, drawing inspiration from the illustrious Viennese style attributed to Michel Thonet in the 19th century. Despite adorning numerous spaces across Brazil, Gerdau designs maintain an air of enigmatic exclusivity within the annals of design history
