Hans Brockhage & Erwin Andrä Rocking Cart Germany circa 1950
Hans Brockhage & Erwin Andrä Rocking Cart Germany circa 1950
Reversible Rocking Cart Push Car for children designed by Hans Brockhage and Erwin Andrä under supervision of Mart Stam for the firm Siegfried Lenz Berggieszhübel dating to circa1950.
Hans Brockhage studied from 1947 to 1952 at the School of Fine Arts in Dresden under the supervision of the Bauhaus legend Mart Stam. The reversible rocking cart was originally designed by Hans Brockhage at "der Werkkunstschule" in Dresden (then DDR) under the direction and supervision of of Mart Stam. The carriage was modelled on the shape of the popular Volkswagen beetle. It can be used either as a rocking chair and if you turn it around as a push cart. In 1956 this toy won the "Spiel Gut" prize for the special design. This is an early first 1950s version with red wooden wheels, highly desirable and wonderful as a piece of art or used for its original intended purposes.
