An Aesthetic period Gillows of Lancaster walnut twin pedestal desk circa 1870, the Geometric Gothic style after a design by Bruce Talbert, inlaid with Thuya and Ebony, stamped inside drawer 'Gillow L3910’, the rectangular top over a central frieze drawer with twin pedestals either side, gothic carved door fronts concealing four pull out drawers with turned knob handles to each pedestal, all with original brass locks and handles throughout, raised on turned bun feet, comes with four decorative keys with tassels (non working).
Condition report: The desk has been completely restored to a very high standard and re French polished, there was a small chip to right hand corner of the right hand door which has been repaired and is barely noticeable, all keys are decorative and non working (we can have fully working keys cut at an extra cost if desired), the desk top shows signs that at some point there may have been a super structure which is no longer present, the desk does not separate.
